Breaking down the shot….

Seven things I did that made this image work…

  1. I shot in a dark (nearly completely dark) building to get a silhouette
  2. I adjusted my white balance so the gold light streaming in shifted to red
  3. I used the repeating geometry of the windows to accent her curves
  4. I framed her (you could make the argument that there are many frames)
  5. The floor was covered in thick dust, that I kicked up for atmosphere, and to make the “God Rays” visible
  6. I put my subject at the one third mark
  7. I put her high in frame, and left my scene slightly angled, for more drama
